Erin Krex, president of First Class Care, Inc., a full-service domestic placement agency servicing all of Illinois, returned from the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies Annual (APNA) Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 17, 2010 with a new award in hand. At this year’s conference, First Class Care, Inc. was presented with the prestigious 2010 APNA Agency of the Year award.
October has been a big month for Krex, who recently ranked 16th out of thousands of contestants in StartUpNation.com’s 2010 Leading Moms in Business competition. Over 700,000 voters helped choose Krex as a Leading Mom in Business and secure her ranking.
For the APNA Agency of the Year selection process, top nanny placement agency owners from across the nation scrutinized First Class Care’s business model and operational practices. At the end of the process, the committee named her agency the best in the nation and honored her with the 2010 APNA Agency of the Year award.
To become a member of APNA, agency owners must present their contracts, applications and business practices to the organization for review by its board of directors. Only those agencies that meet the association’s high standards and agree to abide by the association’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Ethical Practices are permitted membership into the association and granted use of the APNA seal. Within the domestic placement industry, agencies that bear the APNA seal are considered the best of the best.
In 2006, Erin and her husband Steve Krex launched First Class Care, Inc. out of their own personal frustrations experienced while looking for a Chicago nanny for their son. Dissatisfied with the domestic placement agencies in their area, she saw the need for a first class agency that could provide Chicagoland families with high-quality, exceptional domestic help. It was then First Class Care, Inc. was born.
Being a domestic employer herself, Krex knows firsthand how valuable a qualified care specialist can be to a family. For that reason, all care specialists at First Class Care, Inc. are interviewed by a licensed employment counselor and undergo a rigorous screening process that prequalifies them before ever being presented to a family.
In addition to providing Illinois based families access to high-quality nannies, babysitters, housekeepers, house managers, personal chefs and eldercare companions, Krex dedicates her time and energy serving on the volunteer board of directors of the International Nanny Association (INA), a non-profit educational association dedicated to improving quality in-home child care. While of course she wants her agency to be the best in the nation, she takes great pride in educating other agency owners and caregivers on best practices to help them be the best they can be. “It’s my hope that all agency owners give the families they service first class care,” said Krex. “The families really do deserve it.”
